Dihexa is a peptidomimetic developed from angiotensin IV-related molecules. The cited mechanistic study describes a modified chain containing tyrosine, isoleucine and an aminohexanoic amide segment. It examined binding to hepatocyte growth factor, abbreviated HGF, and the relationship between that interaction and the receptor c-Met. In cell-based experiments, investigators measured c-Met phosphorylation and HGF-dependent cell scattering. They also used an HGF antagonist and a short hairpin RNA directed against c-Met to examine pathway dependence. These assays address molecular interactions and particular cellular readouts; they do not make the compound equivalent to the HGF protein itself [1].

A separate study included Dihexa in a multi-component small-molecule strategy using human pluripotent stem cells.
