The second reference is a pharmacology review that also uses the development identifier TH9507 and summarises earlier published literature on the analogue. Its literature search used MEDLINE and International Pharmaceutical Abstracts, with tesamorelin, TH9507 and growth hormone releasing factor among the search terms. Residues 1–29 of tesamorelin are identical to the 29-residue sermorelin sequence. Sermorelin ends at Arg29, whereas tesamorelin continues to residue 44, adding the sequence Gln-Gln-Gly-Glu-Ser-Asn-Gln-Glu-Arg-Gly-Ala-Arg-Ala-Arg-Leu. Tesamorelin carries a trans-3-hexenoyl group at the amino terminus, where sermorelin has a free amino terminus. Both peptides are amidated at the carboxyl terminus: this amide follows leucine in tesamorelin and arginine in sermorelin [1][2].
