A catalog number identifies a product configuration in a supplier’s catalog. A lot or batch number identifies a specific production or packaging batch. Match both when checking a batch document.
What should I include in a documentation request?
Include the exact product name, catalog number, listed specification, package size and lot number if available. State which document or field you need confirmed. Avoid sending health information or payment details.
Does a COA apply to every batch of a product?
Check the lot number, product identity, test methods and reported results on the document. A document for another batch should not be treated as evidence for the batch you are reviewing.
What if storage information is missing?
Request written storage and handling information for the exact product and form. Packaging appearance and instructions for a similarly named product are not a substitute for that information.
